Terrornet is a laptop/mobile phone-made film, filmed during the great lockdown down of 2020. It is predominantly a horror with a sprinkling of amusing moments throughout.
Co-writer/director Radley Mason [who also co-wrote and directed the first film I worked on titled “Lili”] asked me if I would like to be apart of his latest project with his co-writer/director Emma Millions. Immediately I said yes, not knowing what I would be getting myself involved in. I know how Radley works and have had very positive experiences with him in the past. However, once he started telling me what the film was about then I absolutely knew I was going to be in for a wild ride.
I remember one part of the conversation going as such:
Radley: Same place as before but this time we’re murdering an 80 year old woman in the garden…
Me: You know what gets me to say yes, don’t you!
How could I say no? Alas, due to COVID-19 restrictions I wasn’t able to be as involved as I normally would be. A few of the days required the production to hire a studio space and with the crew who were required on that day meant that the studio reached a socially-distanced safe capacity, meaning I wouldn’t have been allowed to be onset. I thought this was a real shame as it seemed like a brilliant opportunity for some fantastic photos but the rules are the rules and made sense considering the time we were in.
It was a peculiar and challenging experience for me, I must say. Not only were there very few crew and cast, but the cast that did exist were almost all on a zoom call and there’s only so many times you can photograph a laptop screen. On top of that, the four to six members of crew and cast that were physically present, all had to be socially distanced and had to wear their masks when possible [actors were exempt as they wouldn’t have been able to do their jobs effectively], meaning the variety of stills that I would normally do just wasn’t an option.
Still, a very enjoyable experience and something I am very happy to have been apart of. Being able to provide unit stills and behind the scenes photographs was just the cherry atop the cake!
Predominantly shot on location in a flat in Ealing, West London.
